If you are a new client it is recommended that you choose the an “Initial Assessment and Treatment - 90 Minutes” option (either in-person or online). You may also book a regular one hour therapy session if that is preferable because of cost or availability.

If there are no appointments available at a time when you would like to have a session, please add yourself to the waiting list. You will then be notified if appointments become available. Use the link under the session options (at the bottom of the left hand column) to sign up.

Psychologist in Ontario are PhD level professionals regulated by the College of psychologist of Ontario (cpo.on.ca). Psychologist can perform the protected acts of diagnosis of mental health conditions and psychotherapy. Work with a psychologist is covered by many extended health insurance policies.

Margaret McGugan

Dr. McGugan is the director of McGugan Cognitive Therapy. She has a Ph.D in Clinical Psychology from the University of Ottawa and has been a practicing psychologist since 2015. Throughout her career Dr. McGugan has practiced as a generalist, which has given me exposure to a wide range of reasons why people seek therapy. She has the most experience working with anxiety, depression, burnout and life stress, and the effects of past trauma. She also works regularly with people who experience obsessions and compulsions, body image problems, procrastination, loneliness, and perfectionism. She is probably not the best match for you if your primary reason for seeking services is related to ADHD, addiction, eating disorders, psychosis, or sensory sensitivity, though she has enough understanding to work with people for whom these are secondary issues.
